Just found this, apparently, these chaps can 'remove' the plactic screen and replace with Glass.

Carhood warehouse in chessington surrey on 0208391 5326.

Is this possible without replacing the whole hood and bow structure, anyone have any experience....?

Your link is missing..

I would imagine it's possible as a firm in Wales produces a glass fitted hood for the pre-facelift 986. To enable the glass to fold flat the last bow is not attached to the canvas.

JCB..

If the glass was the same size as the plastic I would not see how you could lower the top.

There's plenty on Renntech about this. I think they don't attach one of the frames or something in order to make it fit. I've been in contact with the UK company to see if they're doing similar for the 996 but they have no plans. Don't suppose anyone knows if anyone else does them or is researching it.

Jasmine Porschealink UK are advertising them on page 74 of February's Porsche Post. They are quoting £750 or £950 fitted (assume plus Vat).

Has anyone had this option fitted, I understand that it is not an approved Porsche part?

The non Porsche hoods with glass are currently being fitted for £695 (including VAT I think) by two companies (one is now saying they will come to you and fit it). But as far as I am aware you cannot simply put a glass screen in the existing pre-facelift 986. Replacement plastic windows can be put in the existing hood for about £250 I believe.

This is how I understand it.

In the interest of fairness to all the firms offering replacement tops with glass windows (nothing like a bit of competition to keep them on their toes [;)]). Here are the contacts for those interested:

Steve Evans at BAS (based in Wales but will fit anywhere).
Nick Philips as the CarHoodWarehouse (the Surrey lot)
Simon@essentialstyling.com (workshop in Reading)

They're all saying that the price is £695 in VAT. If they ask where you got the price from just say Boxa.net and this forum.

I don't know if Simon has a third type of hood but the only two glass replacements I know of are the BAS one and the GAHH one that Carhood Warehouse do. IIRC, Jasmine use the one from BAS.
