986 Rear Sensors or Camera?

Parking this bugger can be a little testing at times and so used to sensors and the camera on my X5 that I think I have lost the natural skill.

Was wondering if retro fitting sensors is possible an what it entails and costs?

Other option is that I have a Pioneer AVIC head unit which has a reverse camera connection so am thinking this may be easier and cheaper, but not sure where the camera would be mounted, anyone done this and can show pics or guidance?

But yes you can get parking sensors for like £25 , remove the rear bumper and drill the holes yourself
but there are far more expensive options like camera's that can be fitted

I hear you about mirrors but get so spoilt with toys in newer cars if you know what I mean. Plus the misses keeps going on about it.

Anyone done it and can recommend any particular sensors or camera's?

i have the avic unit in my 987 i have also fitted a camera,i put mine on the plastic mesh behind the headrests only to see cars behind me (my car had park assist on it already)i used a camera i bought from maplin done this about 4 years ago, the only thing the camrea shows the reverse image on the screen ,you can get cameras off e bay that show the true image and they are so small these days, you can also get a camera that is built in to a rear no plate surround, and small wireless ones so you do not need to run a signal wire back to the avic from the camera (still needs power for camera may be from rear reverse lights, also would need power for wireless receiver)

I'm thinking the camera is the easiest option as I have the AVIC already, think I'll wait for the summer to arrive before playing. Will have to find a suitable camera placement.

Hi, My Boxster has parking sensors and up until recently I also had a BMW with them fitted. I have replaced the BMW with a Nissan Qashqai which has 360 degree cameras. It's very novel but not as reassuring as audible sensors.

Regards, Richard.
