986 tuning forks - replacement or re-bushing?

The rear tuning forks on my Boxster are clunking merrily away. Happily the handling isn't affected but it's a little noisy on some rough surfaces.

The Porsche OEM parts are silly money, but searching for JTC1186 (the original manufacturer's part number) comes up with parts at £65 a throw.

An alternative suggested to me by Christian at Steve Bull's is re-bushing them - does anyone have any info on how to get parts / go about that / if it's possible ? May be cheaper still, and I have access to a press...

Dave,

If you're just looking to replace the suspension bushes you may want to look at using Powerflex polyurethane bushes which, unlike rubber bushes, won't deteriorate over time. They might be slightly stiffer than the standard items but have superior noise absorbing properties, so there shouldn't be any NVH implications.

Demon Tweeks list £196.30 for a rear suspension kit on a 986 Boxster.

Jeff:

Thanks for that - there's no other creaking at the moment so I'm thinking of replacing just the tuning forks. That diagram doesn't show any replacement bushes for the tuning forks but I'll see what the company says - they;ve got contact details.
