I am hoping someone with encyclopedic knowledge of the pre face lift 986S Boxter can help. In the top left of picture there is a square black connector with two thin wired shrouded in a vinyl tube that snakes its way down and under the fuse panel and enters the wiring bundle on the right of the picture.
1. What is the function of this wire?
2. Where does it terminate?
3. How can I reconnect the square black piece to its proper place?

My confession. I recently flattened my battery. I searched on YouTube for a frunk opening solution, ignored the 20 plus useful clips, and followed the advise of one maligned "expert" who explained this cable was an emergency bonnet release and that a hard tug would release the bonnet!! Stupidly, I removed the fuse panel cover, grasped the vinyl tube, and gave it a hard tug?!!!? Nothing, except the popping sound of something becoming disconnected!!!!!!

I have no idea what damage I have done or how to put this right........ PS this is an archive photo from a wrecked car.... I have Not surgically removed it from my car..... Regards, Philip, Cambridge CB4. Let
