Hmmmn..... a warmed over hatchback a better drive than the 987? No Elise, no Caterham Superlight? What were their criteria exactly?

What were their criteria exactly?

Firstly scanner won't copy info so I will type it out [] Secondly cars chosen see below:-

"Welcome to the Greatest Drives 2005, the annual Auto Express test to find the best drivers cars. The rules are simple; last years winner is invited back in this case its the Nissan 350Z but every other car must be new or updated in the last 12 months. We've headed back to our favourite track at Ty Croes on Anglesey in the north of Wales for the 3rd year in a row for the simple reason that we don't know of a better place on which to test road cars. Once again, five readers with a knowledge and love of fast cars were invited along to give their opinions, with ITV rally pundit Robbie Head providing the expert view.

And there are extra features this year. We ranked how the cars fared on lap times in our spec tables, while 0-60mph figures marked with an * were achieved by us, rather than manufacturer supplied."

That explains it! Still....not sure the Golf is a better steer than the 987 (or 997, or Mini Cooper S, or Mitsu Evo....) [:D]
