Hi Alfarberts

I would suspect it is the switch by the drivers door, I have a 991 and mine packed up, my friend has a 997 GTS and he had the same problem, works from the key fob okay. Very easy to replace there are two allen screws at the side by the seat just loosen them off so the panel lifts off. Just be careful with the clips holding the switch in. I changed mine and my friends New switch with boot and bonnet release on was around £62.00

These switches have very small carbon contacts which get dirty. If you can be bothered it’s possible to clean them but the risk is you break some of the little hinges (I did) and I’m considering replacing it with one from Amazon as that’s the cheapest I’ve found.

Just bought an eBay cheapie for my errant Boxster boot release, 30 mins to fit, working perfectly.
very hard to dismantle the old failed one, switch pads so very small as said above.
Cost me £20 iirc.
