987.2 Heated seats retrofit

Hi Everyone,

When searching for a Boxster for my wife we wanted to find one with heated seats but the one we got did not have them. Everything else about the car was what we wanted so decided to still go ahead and buy it (and really pleased we did) and I then did some research to have heated seats retrofitted.
Did look at loads of options, including doing it myself etc but eventually decided to go with a company whose job it is and they are at the my workshop today fitting them.
Must say that I am really please with how they tackle the job, very careful with the car, the trims etc and although the process is not that complicated I am glad I did not try to do it myself if only because of the time it takes.
I did look into swapping the dash units etc to have factory heated seat switches but cost and potential electrical issues stopped me from going any further with this idea and the set up we went for is actually "hidden" with the switches at the corner of the base of the seats (what I asked for as did not want non factory switches on the center console - and they did agree it was the best place as well for them).
So here we go, seats are now done with heated elements fitted and they are just about to bolt them back in and I thought I would share a few pics in case some of you are interested.

I know a few folks who have had nightmares doing exactly what you decided not to do. That looks like a pragmatic solution and a neat job.

That looks like a very good and neat solution. Can I ask the price as I am interested to do the same!

2 x Front heated seats (that's base and back of the seats) with 2 heat settings (high/low), Carbon technology heating pads, 3 Year parts and labour warranty, supplied and installed £559 inc VAT. This price is if you go to their workshop north of Manchester, they charged me an extra £100 to come and do it at my place (this is a 3.30 hour drive each way so quite reasonable in my opinion).

Give James a call if interested:

Good job.

Never understand why people would not tick the heated seats option on cabs when doing the spec from new such a low cost option.

Nice one Frank.[:D]

Agree with you but would go even one further, why is this an option to start with? Porsche could include this in all Boxster as standard and by doing so cost would be even further reduced and it becomes a given...

Franck,

I think you’ll find that it’s been a standard fitment on the 718-series cars for a short while? Better late than never! 🙄
