987.2 winter wheels and tyres?

Is anyone running winter wheels and tyres? Looking for some pointers on how to do this as I'm taking my car to the Alps in December.

Car has 19" Spyder wheels on it. My initial thought was to buy some steel 18" rims and fit a budget set of winter tyres to them but having done a bit of searching there don't appear to be steel rims that fit. Now thinking to get a second set of alloys from eBay or somewhere. Anything I need to be aware of in terms of what works well, won't fit etc. Do wheels from any Boxster fit or do I need to be looking at gen2 997 cars only?

Make sure that the offset figure is the same as the 19" Spyder wheels on any genuine Porsche alloys, I would also recommend Vredestein rubber to clothe them.

i put winters on my bosxter s every winter and drove to the alps every year
bought new alloys and pirelli sotto zeros-worked fine-cost around £2200 in all if i remember
good luck
