Having been a Porsche owner for only 15 months, I took the plunge and have this week part exchanged my 2011 987 2.9 PDK for a 2012 981 3.4S PDK.
The 150 mile drive home from the Porsche Centre certainly confirmed what a totally different animal the 981 is to the 987.
The colour is not a common or popular one and probably not to most peoples taste, but I like it.
Won't divulge until I post a decent picture.
Am now looking forward to some sunny summer days to get the roof down and listen to that engine.

Big difference as you say
I loved my 987S but the new one is better in all respects

Congrats on the 981, different animal as you say,

Advance warning of the pic post please, do I need to get my sunny's on?[8D]

Enjoy. I have the smaller one but went from 987 manual to 981 PDK with sports exhaust and dont regret it for a moment.

Many thanks for your supportive comments.
I too loved the 987 for the short time I had it and really enjoyed driving it, but the 981 just seems more refined in all respects.
And regarding the colour, its NOT yellow so no sunglasses required .........

Wow 6POT, that's even quicker than me.
I have just written a list of all the cars I have owned since passing my driving test in December 1974.
The 987 was the car I have owned for the shortest period.

And Tracy, I will e-mail you a photo when the sun next comes out so I can take one to show the colour at its best.

Come on what colour is it ???? Mine is a marmite arrangement of colour but when I saw it in the flesh ...............

In Motor racing countries have various colours, could it be the same as Jordan use?[&:][:-]

That's Jordan the country, not racing team, and certainly not that orange lady [;)]

I bought my 981 about 8 months ago, before that I had a 987 for 8 years and before that I had a 986s for 2 years. even though the 987 was good the 981 is much better, refinement and the ride and handling are far better and the inside of the 981 is a much nicer place to be,i have driven the 982 and it is much like my own car apart from the engines. I have 3 cars and only use the Porsche on the weekends as a fun car.

Well here it is.
Lime Gold.
I know it will not be everyone's cup of tea, but I like it because it is that little bit different.

Hi

just for info a forum member over on boxa returned a car that looks identical to yours as it had issues with water ingress and had a lot of work done before finally being rejected by the customer

http://www.boxa.net/forum/index.php?/topic/70825-981-s-lime-gold-pdk-running-report/&page=1

Just wanted to to make you aware as I'm 99 percent sure this is the same car so it may be worth a read to make sure any issues that the previous owner had have been sorted.

cheers

I cannot get access to the website from that link.
Do you know where the previous owner lived and which OPC was dealing with the car?

Pic of the car that the Boxa net member rejected just before he drove it away after buying it and it went wrong for him.
I do hope that it is not the same car.
