Hi all

I have a 2.7 986 Boxster and would like to possibly buy a 987 2.7 and use it for work.

I currently have an Audi A4 which returns 40- 50mpg on a run and would consider selling both cars. Out of curiosity if driven sensible what mpg does a 987 2.7 return in town and on a run.

Thank you

Paul

My 2005 987 manual has done almost 30K miles. On a long run with a gentle right foot it will return 35 mpg, even a little more with premium fuel. Short journeys around town on a cold day reduces this to as little as 27 mpg. Based on typical mileage for a full tank I can offer a confident estimate that it will average slightly under 30 mpg. However, if you take it to the mountains with a 'competitor' on your tail, high revs in low gears can make you gasp in astonishment when next in the service station.

my 2006 2.7 boxster does about 26 -27 mpg in town , i have seen 35 mpg on the motorway on a run to silverstone before . on average i get about 29 mpg ,my car has the 5 speed box and has 17 inch wheels(my daily driver focus tdci does 45 in town and 60mpg+ on the motorway[:D])

I've only owned a 987 for just over a month but I've already noticed it's very susceptible to your driving style. I've achieved 35-36mpg on a steady motorway run, however in town and small roads I usually achieve about 23mpg when I'm 'enjoying' myself, if I'm careful I can achieve 25+mpg in town. If you really enjoy yourself though, expect to see sub 20mpg.

I concur with the above - just done first tank and the OBC suggests 30.2 average. This is a 16 mile daily commute and the odd run for good measure.

I did a steady 40 mile drive and hit mid 30's.

(this is with 98 RON fuel, so might expect less with normal 95 RON)

Cheers, Lee

and backed up with good old fashioned arithmetic ... about 28.4mpg on a 360 mile tank. Might start a spreadsheet [:D]

Is this based on what the OBC it telling you? How accurate are they on Porsches as I know the ones on other brands report fiction more often that not.

my 2008 2.7 cayman has averaged bout 26mpg from new. that is mainly spirited drives and short commutes
