987 Boxster prices

Either I got the deal of the century (not a chance) or Boxster prices are holding stable.
When I bought my 2009 Boxster 987 Gen 2 in August 2013 I told myself its value would half in 3 years.

Now its very hard to do a direct comparison as no used car is the same,
but I paid £28990 for mine from a Porsche dealer with the 2 years warranty,
the car had 11990 miles on it and currently has nearly 21000 miles.

The nearest car I found was,
http://locator.porsche.com/ipl-customer/ipl/details/details.ipl?cid=1

its one year newer, but has 32000 miles on it and its on at £29995,
knock 1000 quid off as that's the discount I got so its the same price nearly 4 years later.

I know my cars value part ex will be less, but going on a like for like purchase from a Porsche dealer
it appears that the 987 Gen 2 is holding value pretty well for something quite ordinary in the range.

yep they have all gone up, who the *** wants a 718 4 pot thing !

987.2 is last of the real feeling cars imo.

what you going to spend the £14k on you saved ?

I don't count it as an extra 14k, but when paying for a major service it makes it a smaller shock to the system when you know the car is still worth something!

Waw I'm gobsmacked!
that's only £7k less than I paid for my 2 yr old 981 Boxster S!!
Something doesn't feel right here ??

Interesting . I expected our two boxsters to depreciate more but after a browse of the classifieds
they do seem to be holding up quite well . Maybe partly seasonal , 718 resistance and
the fact they have been a bit under appreciated ! I think i will celebrate and spend a
bit of money on them .[:D]

Interesting, however I recently enquired at a main dealer about the trade in price for my immaculate RS60 with only 32k on the clock against a 981GTS and was offered only 17k. RS60's are all up for sale with my milage for between 23k and 25k, guess the trick is to private sell.

Bought my first foray into Porsche 18 months ago, a 2011 987.2 Meteor Grey Boxster with 33k miles from an independent for £23k.
After 15 months, I traded it in for a 2012 981 Boxster S at an OPC, my 987 then having 38k miles on the clock.
As hard as I tried, I only got £18,500 for it as part ex because I knew they would initially put it back up for sale for £25k, which they did, as that seemed to be the average price for 987's nationally across the Porsche approved pre-owned cars back in February this year.
The OPC implied the £18,500 was a good price for the 987 as used 981's were selling well particularly since the 718 came out and therefore there was less demand for 987's.
Within a few weeks, they had dropped it to £23.5k and I think it sold about 2 months after I traded it in.
Of course they claimed they had to spend £1000 doing a major service that was due particularly as the previous service had been done by a non-Porsche garage.
That's £4500 I lost in 15 months of owning the car - ouch.
But in my opinion, I got the 981 for a really good price so I just had to bite the bullet and take the hit.

Strangely, the OPC concerned has the only 987 PDK Boxster for sale across all the OPC's at the moment, 21k miles for £25,402.

Aye, you have to 'Box' clever these days (pardon pun), fickle thing the second hand car market. Always better going to the main dealer with cash in hand. They have to also stick a mandatory 2 year warranty on your car. I just wonder how long it will all last with Brexit and inflation on the horizon. Main dealers might be more keen to offer better deals in the near future. Not sure how the 718 is selling but I would not want one. Who wants a Subaru with a Porsche badge anyway. The whole idea of my Porsche ownership is the normally aspirated 6 cylinder engine together with its soundtrack.
