987 Faults & Recall Summary

My 987 is soon to go for its first 20k service and after trying to trawl through numerous posts to find others' experiences of 987 faults, foibles and fixes I thought it might be an ideal to start a thread to summarize this important topic to ensure that all recall and warranty items are identified.

So to kick off, my fault list includes:

§ Squeaking brakes under light pressure "" OPC known issue
§ Air vent positioning clip has fallen out "" OPC known issue
§ Clear stone chip cover on rear wheel arches with air bubbles
§ Horn has been castrated!
§ Rough engine note on idle
§ "˜Pumping/tapping' noise on overrun when cold

Other faults gleaned from forum:
§ "˜2100' engine rattle "" not noticed this myself
§ Leather seats prone to wear

I'd be very interested to hear how Porsche have approached these faults elsewhere; especially the brake problem as the Reading OPC said they didn't have a fix for this yet and I'm a little suspicious that a new set of pads at my expense will be the cure!
