Hi All,

Anyone had this experience when I bought the car the previous had lost Key 1,so I thought it would be easy to get a replacement however it turns out Porsche provided me with a GEN 2 key (Which is nice) however my old key 2 (Grey cased one) loses the ability to be used remotely so no open close from the old key 2,so know it looks like I have to buy another GEN 2 key so I have matching..lol any one else had this ?

Thanks in advance..

When the PAS unit is programmed, the keys are inserted in turn. The PAS unit reads the remote signal, and the transponder code, from each key. It sounds like it didn't read the remote signal from Key 2 properly.

It can easily be re-programmed if you take both keys back to them.

Once you get it working, you can swap the innards to a Gen2 key head case if you want to. They are available on eBay.

Hi Richard many thanks for this feedback never thought of swapping the case lol...:))) will go back and see if they can have another crack at it.

I bought replica case of Ebay and swapped the innards. Was a bugger to get the transponder out of old case. Used a file to remove the plastic and glue. Put all innards in new case and all worked fine. 1 Tip, hold the whole hey when turning ignition on and not the key ring as it can pop the copy case open again. Been using for 6 months mow. Cost me about a tenner for each case.

Thank for the advice after the DME/ECU issues the GEN 1 key fired up fine again, then bought a GEN 2 after market key block, hardest bit was getting out the transponder lol..a lot off wiggling about now have a matching set so that's super good..

Many thanks it now its porschetastic! again.
