987 key battery replacement

Hi guys
has anyone replaced the battery in the key of their 987? Just wondering what battery I need and how to take the key apart

One thing they may not tell you is that you get about 30 seconds to change the battery before the alarm part of the key is disabled requiring a re-program at the OPC. At lastit was like that on my 986 and I can't imagine it has changed any. I.e don't take the old battery out without putting the new one in within 30 seconds.

You may lose key synchronisation, however it does not require a visit to the OPC to rectify this;

To solve this you need to perform the key "handover procedure."

"Insert the key into the ignition lock and turn the ignition on. Then press the remote button until the blinking frequency rate of the central locking switch in the dashboard changes. Remove the key from the ignition lock and test function."

The above will save you a visit to the OPC.
