987 option sticker

Tool Pants

non Club member but v. knowledgable
I am in the US and we will not get the 987 until January, but we have the 997. I have looked at several 997s and there was no option sticker under the front trunk lid as there is in a 986 and 996.

For those who have seen the 987 did you notice an option sticker? Jeff

Mm. You got me thinking now, I do not beleive I have seen anything myself. Exactly where is it located?

Saw another 997 today and this one had an option sticker in the usual place. Strange that the others I looked at did not.

My MY04 986 has no sticker that I can see at all. Perhaps they're doing away with it?

Unless its had a shunt and new bonnet of course [;)]
I take it that the other options list/sticker will still be in the owners book ?

I bought it new from Hatfield OPC in July 04. There is also nothing in the owner's book either?

There should be one in the Guarantee and Maintenance book not the handbook.

If not get your supplier to sort it.

JCB..

I had a prang resulting in a new bonnnet of my 3 year old car. Was repaired flawlessly by the OPC bodyshop and original sticker had been carefully peeled off of the dinged panel and re-adhered to the new bonnet. Same positioning as on the speed yellow 997 in Tool P's image.

When I collected my car, the handover guy in the Factory actually peeled the sticker off the backing paper and stuck it in the book in front of me.
The 2 stickers were partially stuck on the underside of the bonnet in the correct place. i.e. He peeled the second sticker off the backing and put in the maintanance book, and peeled the remainder of the backing paper off the one under the bonnet and finished sticking it down.

I can easily see a dealership removing them instead...[&:]

This is also how a US dealer receives a 986/996 from the port. I was told it is because they do not want the dealer to put the sticker on the wrong car. This must have changed for the 997. My dealer would not be pulling the sticker off, as they use it to write down the number for the wheel lock key. I will have to ask the mechanics that prep the 997s why I do not see the sticker on a 997.

Finally got my sticker in the mail from my OPC.

He couldn't tell me why it didn't come with the new car.

You are lucky. In the US we are told you cannot get a replacement sticker from Porsche. You get only what came or did not come with the car.

The very first 987 I saw had the option sticker under the front trunk lid. I have seen about a dozen other 987s at two dealerships and none of them had the sticker. Keep forgetting to ask the mechanics what is going on.

In the US we have an emission sticker under the rear trunk lid. This sticker has the engine specs and a list of what pollution equipment it has. When they do a smog test they look at that sticker. No sticker on the 987s I have looked at. I am guessing with the new smog equipment the smog computer knows what the car is and what it has.
