Dear All,
Sadly had to take a trip to an MB dealer - two knee replacements coming up may mean (temporarily, I hope) end to roadster driving (getting in and out not the driving itself!). Had a discussion about their coupes and saloons and a tentative talk about trade in price of mine. He delved into Glasses and came up with £26k - ouch! It is November 05, bought from Reading for £36k June 06, black tiptronic and low level bits like climate, leather seats, mid hi-fi, parktronic (no sat nav), 17k miles. I know I am naive, but a £10k drop in 9 months seems a bit harsh. do you have any thoughts on trade in prices and what I might get privately please? or if Porsche would do a better deal if I traded in with them for a sit-up-and-beg Cayenne? The cunning plan is to get a 996/7 in autumn 08 when mobility restored. or, just hang on and limp until fit and keep the Boxster!
All the best

That cheered me no end, bought a used 987 S last October from OPC set me back nearly 40 big ones. It has lots of kit and very low miles, I have no doubt its worth 25 quid now.

Patch, hang on to the Boxster if you can until your switch to the 911, Hammerhead is right, you'll lose out twice (more with an MB)! Might be easier to get in and out of the Boxster with the roof down now its getting warmer[;)]

Des,
Why not keep the Boxster and get something cheap and easy to get in and out of for the time being. My mother has had two new knees and one of the favorites we looked at for her was a Fiat Panda (as recommended by James May!). If you ran it for a year you would probally not loose to much value on it in that time.
Good luck with the opps, they have you up and about in no time.

if you park in a single garage or to one side of a double then you will struggle as much with a merc clk - the doors are huge, and in a limited space are very awkward to get in and out of

Have a look on www.autotrader.co.uk www.topmarques.co.uk and www.pistonheads.com/sales . You will quickly get an idea of what other similar cars are selling for at the moment. Cars priced well will sell though there are a LOT of used 987's around at the moment and buyers will rightly only go for the absolute best spec, the best price or both.

Look at http://www.porsche.com/uk/approvedused/pre-ownedsearch/ and find out how much an OPC would retail a similar car. My 987S is on sale at the moment. As a guide, the car cost £42k in June 05 and has now done 15k miles. The OPC offered between 29 - 30k (Glass's says 30k), and the Porsche site has a few up for between £35 and £36k. I would expect to get around £31 - £32k privately.

thanks a lot guys for all the sage advice!!

can anyone tell me why it says I am non-member if I am?

all the best
