[&o]Which of the following 2 options appeals more for similar extra buck$ Full Leather £1109.00 or Special Metallic £979.00 extra on top of the standard £543.00 charge £1522.00 in total to you sir [] or wouldn't either of these be top of your must have list

The 550 has both but if I had to do without one of them it would be the special metallic paint.

GT silver metallic wouldn't have been my 1st choice anyway and is very prone to stone chips which are difficult to touch in but the full (dark grey, in my case) leather is well worth having.

You could just get a flat colour like guards red (doesn't show stone chips as badly and is easier to touch in than a metallic) and save another £500+. That would effectively reduce the cost of full leather.

hello

I recently ripped ou the old pinstrip interior anf went for full raven leather[;)] a little kinky but well worth the dosh[:D]

Go for the full leather, it adds a little more class. Can't speak for the new model yet, but when you look at the current model with the full leather compared to the half leather, especially on the door linings, there's no denying which is best. The paint won't help come re-sale.

I took ages to choose my spec. Leather is too cold/hot and paint is a waste.

Bose and /or PASM would be my choice.....

I ordered S, Basalt, Sound Upgrade, Wind def, parking assist, xenons, cruise.....useful options i thought ...

But each to his own!!

I personally wouldn't go for special paint. What colour would you really want that is not available already? Unless of course you were really trying to make a statement. (Dyno-rod orange it is then).

The leather option does look remarkably good, so if I chose between the 2 then it would be this one. However, after having leather (as newboxster suggests), in the summer leather burns your legs when your wearing shorts and in the winter it freezes your parts off, especially if your wearing shorts. [:D] So you'd have to add the heated seat option too.

[8D]Cobalt Blue is the hot favourite at the moment but I wold have to double check its not going to be hard to sell on [&o] like Carrera White for instance

I suppose a blue derivative is a reasonable bet for safety with resale, at least in not hampering the sale. But as most will attest to, spending your £1500 on that will probably not give you any more in return.

But if your specing one on the same basis as me, then pick what you really want, after all it's being bought for your pleasure not the next owner[;)]

I can never understand why the first thing that so many people think about when buying a car is selling it![&:]

Leather for me!

I didn't go for leather on my 2002 Boxster and have regretted it since. In the showroom it was quite hard to see the difference between the full and partial leather but with the roof down i bright sunshine the alcantra looks cheap. I thought as I was getting leather seats anyway it would not make much difference, but believe me it does. I got the Porsche upgraded sound system which sounded great in the showroom but is useless over 50mph with the top down. I very expensively upgraded to the Bose rear speaker and can confirm that it works brilliantly up to 140mph with the roof down.

I also specified a hard top which has remained in storage for the last 2 years. Total waste of money for me.

I'm pretty sure I will be ordering a new 05 "S" (my third Boxster) soon and will specify cruise control (a license saver for me), Bose, full leather, tiptronic (I live in London), chrono pack, xenons (essential IMHO), automatic mirrors and heated seats. I still haven't figured out the memory seats on my current car so I'll give them a miss.

If I had to economise I would buy a basic "S". On my calculations the price difference taking into account the included extras the difference is only about 10%.

I realise I lose money on options but I buy a car for me to drive and enjoy, not for the next guy.
