How many mpg are you getting?

My original tank of fuel the car was delivered with, presumably 95 Octane, gave me a very disappointing average of just over 18mpg [] Mainly town driving conditions where I would have expected around 22mpg as it was all very gentle driving. 2nd tank, same driving conditions as before, was 61 litres of "Optimax" and returned a slightly more encouraging 21mpg [&o]

3rd and current tank of "Optimax" again all town driving is currently showing a very nice 22.4mpg, although I have only done 60 odd miles so far but with quite a bit of stop start stuff in the mix.

So as my OPC said when I first reported the worst mpg figures in all of my 8 years of Boxstering things would improve as more miles were put on the new engine. Car just clocked up 600 miles today so it would seem for once the OPC may have been on the button :ROFLMAO:

02/05/05: 80 Miles Breakdown: 55 miles around town and 25 miles on motorway ... filled tank to brim and average mpg was 25.6mpg obc showed
26.2 but previous fill up wasn't to the brim which for the record is +1.5 litres from the automatic cut off on pump.

Hi Rob,

I have been running mine on Optimax also and have done 900 miles now. Mixture of urban and long distance (say 50:50) and since new I have averaged 23 mpg. This did creep up though (from 22.3mpg) in the last week when I effectively did 340 motorway miles in two days.

However, whilst religiously keeping below 5000 rpm for the first 500 miles (as advised by OPC), I have tried to use most of the rev range up to this level (also advised by OPC) and so I have driven in a fairly 'spirited' way when circumstances permitted.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Mark

Hi Mark

I have been drivng rpm wise in a similar fashion to you. I have done 140 motorway miles out of my 600 and on that ocassion I managed to get 30mpg which was a bit below my previous "S" but car had only done about 200 miles at the time and was on dealer supplied fuel 95 octane for sure. If I took the 2 averages of motorway and town I would have recorded 26mpg+ [;)]
