This weeks Autocar has an interesting group test where once again the outright easy winner is ![ROFL :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
Must be worrying for BMW & Mercedes knowing their finest efforts are about to be kicked into the long grass by the Gen 3 all new Boxster come 2012[8D]
Conclusion:-
"SLK is a lovely car to sit in or look at, but it is just not good enough at being either comfortable or engaging to drive. In trying to be all things to everyone it has missed the mark and ended up compromising its ability in most areas. It's admirably clean and the powertrain is a delight, but in every other way it's a disappointment.
The Z4 has plenty of appeal but the Boxster S remains the only one to consider if you care about driver reward. BMW's efforts is a truly excellent one, and given the hard top practicality, the looks, the extra grunt and all of its other tangible and intangible benefits, it's easy to see how this would be the more rounded car for many lifestyles.
But Porsche is still the master of dynamic excellence. And because that translates to a better car for everything from Tesco's to Silverstone, even taking into account the compromises of its fabric roof and running costs, it's an easy win for the Boxster S
