Can anyone help please; I see on Ebay plenty of 986 spare wheels with jack & tool kit for sale, suggesting they also fit the 996. - But do they fit the 987 S ?? Mine is on standard 18" Boxster S wheels.
If they do; where do most owners store these - I assume under the bonnet but some improvisation required for securing I'm guessing?
Any advice would be most welcome😃
Thank you in advance!

Hi there,

The spare will fit the wheels but will not fit in the boot as the 987 boot was redesigned from the 986.

What you need is the space saver version of the spare wheel.

Thank you for the response; ok I'll try to source a space saver instead but so far, haven't seen one yet;- do you know, is it marketed as a 987 space saver or another model designator?
Thanks in advance😉

When looking at the Porsche PED drawings it would appear that the 986 and 987 have different part numbers. I do think a good idea to have one but if you do get a puncture where do you put the full size wheel

986. part no. 996 362 030 00
987. part no. 996 362 020 04
987/2 part no. 996 362 020 04

If you don't have a passenger, then it goes on the passenger seat. If you do have a passenger (and you can't leave them behind ;-) then strap it to the boot lid. Worth carrying a bag for the old tyre, a piece of carpet to put on your boot lid for protection, and a few bungees.

It occurs to me that Baden Powell may have driven a Boxster... "be prepared..." ![:D]
