987 Spyder brakes

I am finding my 987 Spyder on standard brakes (not the PCCB option) to be a little disappointing - mostly just too soft. (My other cars have some fairly serious brake upgrades, so perhaps an unfair comparison).

I don’t want to change the calipers or fit an aftermarket kit, as I feel these cars are better left original, but I wondered if anyone had any suggestions for upgrading pads or fluid and whether that would solve the issue?

Hi.
I think Mr D is your man he has done a brake upgrade and can advise on the best course of action depending on the budget you want to spend .
I am sure he will be along at some stage to advise

Henrybr,

Don't do anything until you've had advice from Mr Demon. He knows all there is to know about 987 Spyder brakes......and the rest.

I have PCCB 350MMdisks and 6 pot GT3 calipers all round on mine, with 997 GT3 cooling ducts , it's amazing lol !!!

cheap mod DS2500 pads to offer a bit more bite over OEM but not a squealing race pad so still ok for road only use.

better mod gyro 340mm after market bigger front disks which come with spacers + new pads and add 997 GT3 cooling ducts.

One could fit the PCCB MC it's bigger than oem but not GT3 big and matched to the bigger kits.

Fake mod GT3 MC :) , just makes the pedal shorter and harder to press no performance advantage a load of people love it, I don't approve.
If you want a harder pedal with less travel go ahead, as I say it's a common mod but zero performance advantage.

Proper mod, 996 GT3 6 pot calipers and 350MM disk ;-) sort of oem as all Porsche parts, you also need new hubs or bracket from the USA !

Best mod AP Radi-Cal touring car mono Bloc race calipers with 355mm disks.

Super. Thank you very much for the thorough advice. Initially I will try the upgraded pads and then decide which direction to go when the discs need replacement.
