987 Type Spre Wheel

I thought when the 987 came out it was supplied with a can of sealer? My 986 had an inflatable spare and an offset comparable to the 944, as the wheels are interchangeable I would have expected it to fit.

Thanks gents. My car is away at present so I am unable to test it on the fronts. My concern was that the spokes wouldn't clear the calipers, in the same way that 16" Boxster fronts don't, requiring a spacer.

Its a 996/986 part. I hadn't checked the part number before - the fellow from whom I purchased it had used the wheel in his 987 which only came with a can of sealer as standard. It had provision for the wheel though, I am lead to believe.

My advice would be don't bother with a space saver, buy a 8" S2 D90 rear, fit a decent tire and use this for both front and back.

That way when you get a puncture in the rain 100miles from home you can throw it on and drive home at a reasonable speed.

I now have 5 x D90's/CS for specifically this purpose all with the same rubber on. No way I'm going to get caught half way across Belgium and have to drive at 80KM/H or 50MPH to get home/ to the ring !

I already have D90s Chris. I think I bought the extra 7"s from you! This is a second spare though, and its attraction is its thinness which makes it easy to pack away. I suspect that two could be carried in place of one standard spare too.

ORIGINAL: 944 man

Now that sounds interesting. I have contemplated buying a can of tyre foam and doing away with the spare and the compressor in my S2 and enjoying the extra space and lesser weight. However I am a bit too much of a coward to try it ... A smaller, lighter spare sounds like an interesting idea.

Oli.
