I am thinking of selling my 987 which dealers are the best to approach. I don't like the idea of selling privately so feel the only option is to sell it back to an independant or into the dealer network. What are people's views on the best way to do this and the best people to approach?

Thanks

Boxster Wanted ads in Sunday Times have been very good in the past for me ... Last September sold my 986 to a very nice OPC Used Car Buyer if you want info PM me and I will let you have his details.

Uppy, how come your selling the Boxster ?
You didn't have the Turbo for that long[&:], you've not been messed around by a dealer I hope..

It has had an issue with the trim fit and is hopefully being resolved tomorrow but that will be the 4th visit so at the moment I am not loving the Porsche ownership thing.

I'd like to get my cash out the car and have a rest from owning such a vehicle with a view to coming back to something in 9 - 12months time.

[:'(] Sorry to here that..

some bad luck your having, mine went into the dealers for the first time in 12months and that was for a service...[:)]

My Golf has been to the dealer for some warranty work and came out fixed on one visit. We had a Ford Fiesta that only went to the dealer for servicing. The Porsche no that needs multiple visits for the same thing.

Nothing needs to take 4 visits to fix it's just not acceptable at this price level.

I just need a rest from it...[:)]

Very bad luck, and I can understand your frustration.

Don't let them get away with it. Kick some 'ass' and write to the senior management at PGB and the OPC and tell them what you think of their level of service. I have found that if you go right to the top - a letter to the MD/CEO is appropriate - it often works wonders.

I must admit that the one fault on my car; in connection with the folding roof and the rattles that would not go away, was dealt with on one Saturday at my convenience and the problem has not returned.

You paid good money for the car and are entiteld to have it put right properly under the terms of the warranty if not the contract of sale/sale of goods laws. Keep on at them and I hope that you will meet with success.

Good luck.

I forgot to ask. Exactly how long have you had the car? If the OPC cannot put it right you might have the right to reject the car and ask for the return of your money.

I am not an expert on this area of law but I believe that if a new car is not of merchantable quality [especially in view of the cost] you might be entitled to reject the car. Of course, the dealers might think that goodwill is important and offer you a new car in exchange for yours.

Go to the top and see what happens.

Incidentally, I believe that PCGB is not permitted to intervene in such matters? I seem to have seen this mentioned elsewhere. Is this correct? If they are not, why not?

Observations?

I have had the car just under 2 months, I am dealing with the dealer principal at the moment it went back in today was kind of expecting a call but nothing so don't know if it's fixed or not.

It's a real shame that the actions of the OPC have ruined your experience of such a fabulous car, and such a great marque. I've had the good fortune of great service and a fault free product (touch wood) and really feel for you deciding to let go of such a beauty.

It annoys me all the more as in my day to day job I run an a support organisation and it's my duty and responsibility to ensure my team deliver excellent customer service. Therefore it's often the case that other organisations fail to meet my expectations of what is good service. It probably is a great car but I am just find the OPC's and their attitude impossible to deal with If the Vauxhall dealer can be polite, call us back sort stuff out then that should be the norm. They may not wash the car but you feel that you are gettting something for your money with the service. But then as it is less money then you tend to expect less maybe my expectation of Porsche ownership is set to high but then again the price is high.

If you have a good OPC and a fault free car you are very lucky.

IMO after only 2 months you have the legal right to reject the car and either ask for the return of your money or a brand new one. I am assuming that the mileage is very low.

Threaten this and see where it gets you, unless you have tried going right to the top of the dealers who sold you the car in the first place. Any threat of legal action, with the risk of having to meet your [not inconsiderable] lawyers fees and the attendant bad publicity, especially when the law appears to be on your side, should frighten the dealership into capitulation.

Really sorry to see your problems; a Boxster is a great car. Hope you meet with success and that the dealers will play ball and give you something extra to restore your faith in modern Porsches.

I took legal advice and would not be in a strong case for straight rejection as the issue is not "technical" I spoke to a consumer lawyer which was enlightening.

I have instead sold the car for a couple K below list which I am happy with and will now have a rest.from Porsche ownership....

I rejected my 3 month pld Cayenne with 1800 miles on the clock a few weeks ago. 6 visits to the dealer and no fix to an electrical problem. Had to threaten court action but never got that far.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]The dealer replaced with brand a new Cayenne, identical spec and zero miles.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Rejections do happen [FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Well done for getting a new one, electrical problems have to be one of the worst but you would have a good case in court as it's technical. I am happy with the outcome for me and looking for not have the cost's of running a third car in the household.
