987S Alarm Siren

Morning. I’m advised the alarm siren on my 2007 Boxster S is defunct. I’ve been quoted £280 to replace.

if I’m correct, it’s located next to the battery. Looks as though I can buy a working used unit on eBay for around £30. Does anyone know if this is a simple case of disconnecting the old one and connecting a replacement unit or is there more to the task?

Thanks for your help.

Andrew,

I suspect that it's just a straight swap but there's probably an error logged which may have to be cleared before the alarm will work, which means a trip to a Porsche Centre or Independent with the necessary diagnostic equipment. You could always contact the service manager at either to ask for advice.
