991.1 arriving this Friday! - Questions on PCM & Warranty

Hi folks, new to the PCGB and to a 911. I was lucky enough to have an original Boxster many years ago before kids. Fast forward 10+ years and I'm finally jumping into a stunning 991.1, C2 Cab with so many extras, PSE, PDK, PASM, Sports Chrono - it really has been specced up well.

I'm a huge gadget guy and wanted to see what options if any there were for upgrading the PCM that comes as standard. I assume no easy or cheap way to get to get the newer version in here and Apple CarPlay?

Also, I'm toying with whether I need to go and get a Porsche Warranty or not. Im buying from a Porsche Dealer, just not an original one. The car is in mint condition and all the reviews of the guys are positive.

Thanks in advanced.
5 days and counting.. Not too excited then! [:)]

Porsche Warranty, from what I read, yes. Don't forget you can run it for a car upto 15 years old! Reasonable and relatively quibble free.

No way of getting Apple Play on PCM 3.0, but having spent the money to get it for my VW "runabout", I wouldn't worry too much, it's still far too immature for us techies. Have a look at the Porsche Tequipment Genuine Accessories bit on Porche UK website and that'll give you a good idea what you can upgrade (Connected services etc).

Good luck for friday :)

J

PS.. excellent colour choice!

Porsche Warranty definitely worth it & why worry about Apple Car Play when you've got that great car sound track to listen to.
Enjoy Friday.

Hey Nigel,
I bet Friday cant come soon enough! Make sure you post a photo
I bought my first Porsche a year ago, and just now changing from Boxster to 911, and in looking around dealers, both for my new one, and privately to sell the current one, it does seem to me that any Porsche enthusiast will only buy with a warranty on it. As ScaredJimmy said, you can maintain the warranty for 15 years, which is a whole lot of peace of mind for the person you may sell it to, or for you if you keep it.
It would be interesting to hear from longer term owners/older car owners whether they feel that the warranty is actually valuable.

I've had nearly ten porsche over 30 years
always had OPC warranty
overall its paid for itself ,sometimes just ,other times many times over ( bore score rebuild!)

You get a 2 year Porsche warranty when you buy from a PC.

If you buy from a Porsche Specialist, any other motor trader or private sale I understand that you have to own it for 3 months before you can get a Porsche warranty for the PC.

Hi Nigel.

Welcome to the club, you must be super excited not long now! I'd definitely go for the warranty, it's great for peace of mind and means you'll enjoy your car more not having to worry about any surprises.

Enjoy!

Forgot to say you'll not be bothered with Apple play when you hear how good your car sounds, Ive not even had my radio on once since I got mine, the sound of the 991.1 with PSE is incredible!!
