991.1 C4S Manual - Bellhousing Bolt Thread Failure

In my 14 months of not so glorious Porsche ownership, my car has been into the shop four times for various warranty issues including a coolant reservoir leak during which they managed to over-torqued the bolts to both rear light housings causing them to fall out, about a month apart. Can't say I am enamored with either OPC workmanship or diligence.

After 6 months of not driving, I decided to bring my car back to Aus and have everything done prior to leaving the UK which included replacing the clutch. (not a warranty job) I have a current warranty and this car was purchased from Porsche Bristol in April of last year. I received the following from OPC Bournemouth yesterday:

During gearbox removal for clutch replacement – the top bell housing bolts have loosened approximately 2mm and then have locked up and seized. Suspect threads damaged from corrosion. This now requires engine + gearbox removal for further assessment and easier access to remove the seized bolts. There is a risk of threads being damaged or damage to engine casings. Suspect bolts will req. cutting off, drilling and re-tapping. Possible requirement for D+R James for repair. Labour time quoted is for the additional time required on top of labour for clutch replacement for engine removal and removal of damaged bolts - £2393.35inc vat.

I saw subsequent footage of the bolt and it was anything but corroded. Just wanted to see if anyone has had anything similar?

What the dealership is claiming is a highly unlikely mode of failure for those bolts (There is only one bolt with this issue that I am aware of). There is zero indication of corrosion of the thread in the footage sent to me, and practically it is much more likely that the thread failure is installation or subsequent work-related by a factor of ten.

I have asked Porsche for the bolt specification and will be handing it over to my engineer and counsel to sort out. I have a mechatronic and motorsports engineer, a heavy diesel fitter, and a general counsel that are taking some delight in this so happy to help anyone else out if you've had the same issue, just PM me.
