991.2 C2S PCM & Control Unit Update - ANY OTHERS BEEN CONTACTED FOR THIS??

Hey all - hope you are all doing great...

I got a straighforward letter from Porsche about a PCM update which Porsche said would take 2 hours. I just called them to book this and was told this would take 2 hours for the PCM system but the 'other' update is taking more than 3hours so they need to keep the car for 2 days!?!?

The rep told me it's related to the Control Unit but when i asked for details and why there wasn't additional comms on this she said it would be provided on the invoice.

Even though it is covered on warranty i would like more details on what exactly needs to be fixed with the control unit.

Is anyone else doing/has done this? Do you know what this is related to?

Thanks, Khurrum

I got the same communication at the weekend and have booked my car in for next week at OPC Hatfield. Was told they need 3 hours, no mention of anything else, and I've been told I can have it back later that day.
Best

Thanks Ellis.

PC West London told me it should take 3 hours but is currently taking them a whole day. The lady told me that they can't do weekends as it won't be possible to be done in the service opening hours, so they have stated they will collect the car on the 21st Feb and return on the 22nd. Slightly odd IMO...

If you don't mind letting me know how you got on that would be great.

Thanks, Khurrum

Hopefully this update will allow me to turn off the key memory so it doesn't always reset to the memory settings... Does anyone understand how the two Bluetooth connections ate going to be different from what we already have?

As far as i am aware it will allow for two connected devices but not sure how it works in practice either. It's irritating at the moment that the car is only accepting call audio and not my music []

Also how have you found the navigation software to be? I always check against google maps and it hardly ever is as efficient. I also find it annoying that if i change to TUNER i dont know how to get back to the navigation route without having to re-enter my destination!!

On a 981 I have a phone and a GPS beacon paired and connected concurrently by Bluetooth.

[:)] i wish, but for some reason it goes striaght back to the 'enter destination' screen! then i have to go to route preview or alternative routes to get it displaying the journey again which is a tad clunky...

i don't know if you are, but you have to confirm the inputted destination, by telling it to start the route, then it stays in.

I normally experience this mid way through my journey using navigation. I go to the Tuner and then when i press navigation again i can't get back to it showing my route! I am avoiding this by using the display dial atm :)

I may post a video as it's driving me nuts! Hope this PCM update just sorts it all out.

There has already been a software update which solved a few problems.... Have a word with your dealer and see if it would sort the problem....

If your route is active and you have pressed "Tuner", just press the "Map" button to get back to the map, not "Navi". Is that the problem?

Yes, that's what I do and it seems to work.

I also got the letter last week but have yet to book it in. It does say it'll take 2 hours.
Other than a map update, I assume it includes the "newer things" introduced with the new Panamera.

Hi all - i finally got confirmation on what needs to be done. I am unsure why it took so long for the OPC to confirm to me.

Here is the response:

Dear Mr Chohan

Please see below the 3 campaigns which will be carried out on the 21st:-
  • Replacing fastening screws for fuel collection pipe Campaign number : AH01
  • Re-program DME control unit Campaign number : WG30
Re-program PCM and instrument cluster (with Naviga Campaign number : WG47

Should you require further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

Not sure if the above applies to all cars but is a lot more than the PCM update i was sent a letter about!

Anyone else had this done??

I booked my 991.2 in yesterday, and what was a software update which was meant to take 2 hours will now stretch to 2 days.
In addition, apparently there are 3 other recalls.
-Reprogramming of front axle lift control unit
-Reprogramming of engine control unit
-Replacing 4 bolts "on the engine"

It is the latter that will take 6 hours, hence 2 days.
