Beginning of May 2018 I decided to treat myself to something special and bought a new Porsche 911 991 Carrera S Convertible from OPC Bournemouth.
After 532 miles, I was stopped driving into the village because smoke was pouring out the back. The dealer didn't believe me until I sent them the movie. Even then they sent 2 drivers out to collect it. They thought they could drive it back, (See what you think) I was unable to use it, I telephoned the dealership, twice no answer, I later emailed the dealer principle who arrogantly ignored me, we were due to tour France in so that never happened, 28 days after initially reporting it they had it recovered.
Most of you know I have a lot of technical knowledge which I had to use to diagnose the problems. When the car was returned, I complained about the lack of power, they had it back for another 3 days and said nothing was wrong.
I insisted that if a Porsche Macan S was quick as the Carrera 911 S, there is something wrong. A month ago I suggested that I suspected a fault with the waste gates on the turbo as I could hear a sound of leaking air during hard acceleration.
Not having got their attention
It wasn't until I contacted the group chairman before the dealer principle telephoned me (last week) then delegated it to the sales manager.
The Dynometer test took place Thursday 9th and proved the power was down by 70 BHP.
I drove to Porsche Dealership where I left it as the dash had lite up like a Christmas tree. They assured me that they would treat it with all urgency, I phoned on the 11th to check on progress, "we have just got it into the workshop so don't know what is wrong with it"
It is now 100 days since I bought and it has been off the road for 40 days. Believe me when I say that that once they had my cash they couldn't to hoots about service. I also wrote the dealer about the depreciation but that was ignored, everyone else I spoke with say they should paying me for the loss of use, whilst I wait for a permanent solution.
This is my second 911 in 10 months, what's happened to German engineering, I don't think it is a good as they make out, certainly the service has a lot to be desired.
Those technically minded out there should understand the chart on the right.
The Carrera S should produce 414BHP so someone has nicked the 70BHP.
I have been thinking of upgrading my wife 3 year old Boxster which we bought from the same dealer 3 years ago, will I buy another from them, I very much dought it, they have a long way to go to regain my trust.
Update on unreliable Porsche 911 S
I had a call today from the Franchise director of Porsche uk who said that the have ordered a new turbo and would be 3 days before they receive it. This afternoon I had a call from the dealership CEO who says that Porsche do not recognise Dynometer test (Rolling roads) but said the turbo is on order and could be with them tomorrow. He said that if that doesn't rectify the problem they will involve Porsche. I asked why they had't done that from the start, his answer was that there might not even be a problem with the car. I said that its normal for a Carrera 911S having difficulty in getting away from a VW Golf GTi. All they are interested in is covering themselves.
Does anyone know how I can put this on the Internet world wide to see if someone has an answer to a gutless new Porsche Carrera Convertible. Or if someone would do it for me, its now been 42 days of the road the best summer we have had for many years.
