991.2 GTS PDK - Kick-down hits Rev Limiter in Drive

Hello Everyone,

I’ve had my GTS for a little over a year now. It’s an 18 plate with around 17.5k miles on the clock. Still under Porsche warranty.

I took a 6hr road trip yesterday and discovered an interesting issue, which I have definitely never experienced before.

With the car in Normal mode, the PDK in Drive (Auto) I used kickdown (WOT) to pass some slow moving traffic. I definitely didn’t touch the paddles either.

The box down-shifted to 3rd, as the car moved through the rev range the box didn’t shift up to 4th, and proceeded to bounce off the rev limiter.

I backed off, allowing the revs to drop, and the box caught up and shifted up.

Alarmed I thought what did I do, as this wasn’t normal or anything I’d experienced before. I wondered as I am sure will be suggested, if I had touched a paddles, but I definitely didn’t. The ODK was in Auto / Drive and I was in Normal drive mode, paddles not touched.

I tried again a short while after the above, and was able to repeat the behaviour. On Kickdown in Normal (not Sport or Sport+) the PDK drops a few cogs, revs up and doesn’t move to the next gear and just bounces off the rev limiter until you back off on the accelerator.

As stated, definitely in Drive (not Manual) and not touching the paddles.

The only thing close to what I’m experiencing that I can match is this:

Also this, however mine just bounces off the rev limiter:

Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this before? I can imagine this being a complete PITA to price to my OPC without a runway or race track.

Thanks!
