991.2 New Build. Sports Chrono or not

Just ordered a base Carerra with PDK. Can't get exited about Sport Chrono, particularly the dash mounted clock. An OPC salesman actually said he couldn't see the point of it. Will I get throttle blips on the downshift without it. On my 981 without SC I get the blips in sport mode. The 911 blurb implies this only happen in sports plus i,e, Sports Chrono. Any one have a base Carerra with PDK that can advise .

There's not too many 991.2 owners around yet, but you're right, the info on the configurator suggests that the blip is only available on the sport chrono, but I doubt that is the case as it's part of the engine mapping.

What the salesman may have forgotten to mention is that the dynamic engine mounts come with SC and that sharpens up the handling in sport mode, and to get rear wheel steer you need to have specced SC as well.

If you don't think it's necessary, it's probably a waste of money and on the base 991.2 will be unlikely to be a 'must have' come resale.

When are you being quoted delivery? Some OPCs are looking well into next year now.

I have to say that on my turbo which does have the sport chrono the blip is a pretty rare occurrence. Dare say on a track with sport plus selected that it would be a little more evident.

I took a demonstrate base 991.2 convertible PDK with PSE but no sport chrono for a very enjoyable solo 80 miles down to Goodwood/bury hill this morning ( thanks OPC Guildford)
I was a bit sniffy about the new engine before driving but came back pretty blown away - loved it ...
- I was in sport mode most of the time and did not notice a blip as such but a glorious burble on the overrun really nice.
i have sports chrono on current 911 but after today's drive I would have to really think hard about specifying on a gen 2 - with my driving style even at PCGB castle Coombe track day last week I use sport not sport plus . True chrono does speed up shifts in manual padle mode but the PDK shift in the gen 2 was so much quicker than my 997 I don't think you need the chrono
suppose best thing is to find a suitable demonstrator , pop in some shell super and take out for a good drive ??
