I have been told that there is a software update for the PCM on 911. 2 due in August. I've had problems with phone contacts dropping off the My screen, I believe this may be included in the 'fix'. I don't know if they will contact all owners to make them aware.

Hi Bob,
Do you know if this is the same software as for the 991.1? Current version is 4.52, what version to you have on your 991.2?

I'm guessing it's going to be new because the PCM is different between the two models. I don't know any details or codes.

Yes, it's definitely a different system - quite different from the Gen 1. When I picked up my car last month from the dealer and started the PCM it spent the first few minutes updating software over the 4G internet connection. Maybe the August update will simply install itself at the appropriate time?

What version do you have at the moment Bob?

Regards

Hi Dave.
I had an issue with my 991.1 and this was due to a vacuum pipe coming off the exhaust valve on the off side. This put the fault on cooling system warning on which had to be reset by the dealer. What I did experience before this was the coolant had been topped up too much and it blew the excess coolant out of the overflow valve and put the low coolant light on!. I cant say for sure but if the levels are ok and there are no leaks there are interconnected thermal protection devices on the car which can cause an apparently unrelated issue to be highlighted on the car.
If it does it again get it in for them to look at and check over for peace of mind matey

thank you so much
i will check tomorrow , i don't think its serious but worth getting it checked anyway

cheers Dave

I've no idea what version my software is, where would you find it? There do seem to be a few things on the PCM that don't work very well, or at all, hope this update sorts it. Very frustrating that these little niggles are evident on such a fine product. Would it update itself if you don't have a data card in the system?

In the 991.1 you can read your firmware version through the PCM. You get it if you push INFO > Options > PCM Settings > Display > Software Version (or Version Info). I expect it is the same in most models.

Would it not be nice if there was a list somewhere, with all the versions and their differences to see if it is worth it to spend that relative high upgrade costs. It is clearly a map update, but what else? Motor management firmware is critical to optimum performance nowadays...

Correction on my previous message. All you have to press is INFO>OPTIONS>System Version (On screen). I have version 3.40 on my 991.1
