991 Carrera corrosion prevention

I have a 2012 Carrera S 991 that I have owned from new and I intend to keep the car for the foreseeable future. The car is mainly for summer occasional use, when possible only driven in the dry. It doesn't see much rain and winter salt. However, I already had to replace the a/c condensers due to corrosion, £1,00, gulp (they all so that, the garage said), and at the major service my PSC noted vacuum pump corrosion - may need to change pump later - won't be cheap.

So with any work on a Porsche costing a fortune, prevention is better than cure, so I had the car on an inspection ramp with the view to potentially coating exposed areas with waxoyl and/or paint (my pal had his S2000 treated with Dinitrol). Most of the underbody is flat, protected by plastic panels - only suspension, engine and sections of well-undersealed bodywork are directly exposed to road grime, so on the face of it there's not much to do. The main areas noted for treatment are the rusty pressed steel rear suspension subframe, corroded fasteners for the plastic underbody panels, and the vacuum pump housing. The aluminium suspension arms also show surface corrosion, but Aluminim Oxide forms a protective skin, but I may get them waxoyled anyway.

Before I kick off the work, I'd really appreciate your feedback on the above, the collective wisdom of the forum on corrosion hotspots to watch for on this model, and any additional measures recommended to prevent rot.

Many thanks, Big Al

Hi big Al
I recently had to replace my corroded brake pipes and for very similar reasons I had my 997 steam cleaned and wax-oyl’d at Ninemeister. They have a fixed price package. subsequently looking at what they have done, the work is exemplary, behind panels etc and I would definitely recommend.

Why not post this topic in the correct 991 Register forum, where it will be seen by 991-owning members and where you will probably get more of a response? [;)]
