991 Carrera GTS (Manual) looking for a new home

Hi all, I am not sure whether I am doing the right thing but my manual gearbox 991 GTS is about to be looking for a new home. It has just had it's first service at OPC Reading and I suffered from the age old problem of going there in person and being tempted to change after looking around at the other cars. I think I had better use the collection service in future - or leave my wallet at home! My GTS has quite a nice spec, Carmine Red, PCCB, LED headlights, a duck tail spoiler, carbon trim and many others (not many options left un-ticked to be honest!), and it has covered 6100 miles. If you are interested it will be arriving at Porsche Reading on Saturday. I'll try an add a photo and you might see why I don't know whether I should be parting with it!

Hi Geoff, I am getting a 2014 GT3, slightly older and slightly higher mileage than my GTS! But I have never had a GT3 before and couldn't resist it. I have not had pdk before either, all my previous cars have been manuals but I thought I would see how I like it and it did feel pretty special on the test drive even with a pedal missing.
I think that my GTS will be marketed at approx. low to mid £90's since apparently the good spec is offset a bit by less demand for manuals - I must be the only one who prefers them. But I don't know the actual price for the GTS yet.

I had a 991 GT3 after a manual GT3RS and I hope you get on better than me, the 991 GT3 is a super car but I found it was in 3 figures before it came alive which was not helped by PDK as I am very much like you, a touch old fashioned in liking 3 pedals. The PDK GT3 is a super accomplished car it just did not gel with me. I would love the new Gen 2 GT3 in manual I'm sure it will be awesome.
Let us know what you think after covering a few miles. I loved mine initially but if anything it was just too good if that can be a problem.
I guess it is me as it gets so many rave write ups.

No just wondered what they were going for as there are not many manuals around. Caroline would like the GTS Boxster back.

less demand for manuals

Really??? I think they might be spinning you a yarn to keep the p/ex price down, they clearly haven't read this review...

There's also a comment towards the end that may well change your mind...

I believe there were only around 50 manual 991.1 GTS' registered in the UK, should be good for residuals [:)]

Oops, only 50 manual 991.1 GTSs registered in the UK. I wish I had chatted to you guys before I went to Porsche Reading. I thought manuals can't be that unpopular or else why did all the 911Rs sell out instantly and why are the GT4s so sought after.
Although maybe I could have done better on my px now I heard this news (the px is fixed now) I have owned the GTS for 16 months and it has only cost me about £6k in depreciation. I think I was lucky when I bought it in Nov 2015 as there were lots of GTS models around then and I bought it for probably about the same that they will sell it for again now. I think it was £113k new with all the options so I thought I bought it at a good price, 6 months old at the time for a bit over £20k off.
Hi Geoff, I suppose that after your manual 997 GT3RS the 991 GT3 would have to be very special to follow that. In my case I don't have all the GT and Turbo history and it's the first time for me to own one of the GT cars, I was a bit worried that it might be too extreme for everyday use, but was really impressed on the test drive that despite the extra feel and urgency than my GTS the ride was not really any harder (unless they only took me on smooth roads of course). I thought the best way to find out for sure is to buy it! Yes I'll give you an update when I've have driven it for a few days.
Thanks for the comments.

That looks lovely. Just had a quick look and the only manual GTS coupe at the moment is a 4GTS which is over double your miles at mid-90's. I may give Reading a bell on Monday but I suspect this may just be out of my budget.

Yes it's a fantastic car and I really hope I dont regret selling it. If you call Reading please ask for Jilly who will be selling it. The GT3 was fun driving home but its going to take a while to get used to PDK must remember to keep left foot off the brake!

thanks for your comments - That's a good point! I have got a lot to learn! I'll be going for a day a the PEC Silverstone soon so I'll have to start making a list. Here's a photo of the GT3 when I collected it Saturday. Even though I was driving it really carefully it was an awesome feeling driving it home. Now I just need excuses to go for a drive, or maybe just go for a drive anyway!
