Latest word on the street is Turbo 'S' is being launched later this year with Turbo to follow early 2014.

Just a rumour - but from a reliable source. [;)]

Regards,

Clive.

I was at my OPC today and was advised to keep my eyes out for details being released "shortly". I was encouraged to "secure a build date" by placing a holding deposit, which I will. It was also mentioned that "word is" the S will come before the standard turbo. I suppose it has some logic. Imagine paying all the money and finding out a few months later that a more powerful version is being launched. Reminds me of the Cayenne Diesel followed by the Diesel S. I know some on here held back their orders for a Cayenne to get the more powerful model. Give the customer what they want.........

You going for an 'S' then, Peter?

No precedent for an 'S' being released ahead of the main model that I can remember.

Be interesting to see if they've managed to engineer improvement to the electronic steering rack.

Regards,

Clive.

It has always been my ultimate (we all have one don't we!). Timing for me will be such that first test drives will be completed before I commit so we can only wait and see. They have taken a while to get to this point so we have to believe it will be a significant achievement - be interesting to see GT3 tests too, which may give some clues, as I understand this comes first in terms of release.

I took it that they only released the Turbo S when they announced the release of the new model , and by throwing in a few options and a bit more power they generated additional sales to save them having dwindling order books for 12 months or more as they did with others like the GTS and GTS 4 plus others.

I thought the same.. mind you it would mean getting into an S quicker..

Maybe they have realised they need to do something to get the sales moving, like mentioned earlier some will wait for the S over the standard car, where this way they get the money and keep those owners locked in.
I've heard nothing from my OPC- certainly nothing about a deposit but then from past experiences from the sales team- no surprises there.
Maybe when the Cayman launch is out of the way we'll hear more

Think of the money they would have lost doing it that way round with you 997 boys. I think all the 997 Turbo S owners had 997's of one sort or another before upgrading.

I thought the latest rumour was that the GT3 and maybe Turbo would be revealed at Geneva motorshow at the start of March?

Releasing the 'S' before the 'base' model seems strange and unusual given the approach with other models.

I can't afford a Turbo (or Turbo 'S') for another 18 months or so (the wife wants a Macan first...), so I have a letter of intent for a 991 Turbo at my dealer but won't be in a rush to place a physical deposit.

Will be keen to see where the Turbo 'S' is priced if it is released before the Turbo - what are the predictions....??
:p

I'd be surprised if you'd get much change out of £140k.

Yup. My OPC is taking orders for Turbo S only right now.

My OPC is saying same thing but not taking any orders or reservations, so they are saying turbo S first v late this year, GT3 lauch at Geneva, turbo later in 14 this time around.

They say they will tell me and keep me in the loop

Current turbo S now sold, well non refundable deposit taken anyway!

The 968 race car is in my possession already and the fezza goes into build in July...full spec now confirmed......turbo s now sold.....well deposit taken....fezza will be on this plate number SP13DER so no doubt get spotted

Latest word from "reliable sources" suggests the 991 Turbo 'S' is to be announced in May/June and will have some tricky, adaptive aero bits fitted. [8D]

Clive
