992 Carrera T

As an owner of the last 991.2 Carrera T, my hope is that there isn’t.

Before i get lynched, there is reason behind my view. Put simply, apart from the T being another trim level for the 992, thus diluting what the T stood for, i do not see what it could offer above and beyond what a GTS with lightweight package doesn’t?

Lightweight glass? Check
Shorter shift manual? Check
Ability to option out Rear seats? Yep that too.

So put simply, if Porsche really did release a T variant, what would be it’s USP, or would it be seen as a cynical attempt to add a trim level like the Macan T?

I can see where you're coming from, however, some might prefer the power from the base Carrera model, which some may say is a more useable amount of power at circa 100 bhp less than the GTS.

Whether the 992 Carrera T will happen or not, I have no idea but if it does then it might be towards the end of the 992 lifecycle, perhaps like they did for the 991.

Hello

Don't post on here very often, but was interested to see the take on the new "T". I currently have an order in for a GTS which hopefully will be available early next year. However I like the idea of the GTS light (T) as has already been said that, it has the lower powered engine but allows all the extra that are available on the GTS. Also the consideration that it will be circa 10-15K less when optioned up of the equivalent GTS.

Yes that would have been a stick on after having 2 981 generation cars, but I now have the small issue of a 4yr old to accommodated too! [:)]

From my perspective, the answer would depend if you are opting for the manual or sticking with the PDK. If Manual and despite my critical view on the new 911 Carrera T, it would be a nice saving over the GTS as you will not be losing much apart from the bigger turbos and corresponding brakes.

If PDK, then I would be inclined to stick with the GTS - just something telling me a PDK GTS would be more desirable longer term over a PDK equipped Carrera T. Moreover if we use historical data/insights on this, then the PDK equipped Carrera T's do not seem to sell as well nor keep their value compared to the GTS or the Manual equipped T's in the used car market.

Just my opinion on it anyway - but happy to be proved wrong.

100% agree with above
i can see very little point in buying a pdk T
manual def yes.
i bought a base 991.2 with 16 k miles 2 yr old for £73k last yr
a similar T would’ve been another £10 k for thinner glass - my base has all the other stuff plus rs spyder wheels .whether resale would be much less for mine doesn’t really bother me as this one’s a keeper

Thanks for the replies. If I was to go for the T it would be a manual no sunroof etc, a more focused spec. I am torn between the 2, especially who know when I would get a delivery spot for a T as I am now 6 months since I placed the deposit for the GTS.

It might be worth talking to your OPC as I would imagine the queue for the T will be shorter than for a GTS, even 6 months into the GTS queue wait.

Hello,

Spoke OPC and they recon the lead time for T will be less than GTS, offered the option to convert to T or place deposit for both and cancel the one that gets the later build date.

I think that would be the way to go, place a deposit on both and then you have the choice.

I spoke to my OPC and was very interested when he told me about just how many 991.2 T models were ordered with the PDK (as opposed to manual). I had assumed that they would nearly all be manual but apparently not.

I suppose it depends on what options you are after and on what model.
