993 Brake Light Bulb Replacement

I'm not big into DIY on cars but also not inclined to pay someone to replace a bulb. I presume replacing the brake light bulb on a 993 is straightforward?

Any advice on what's involved gratefully received.

Also - what bulb is required and where can a replacement be purchased? (Halfrauds?)

Thanks

If memory serves me right, unscrew one screw that holds the unit in place and hinge out. Not sure on bulb type but it is in the Halfords list of bulb fitments.

That's about it unless you are referring to the high level stop light.

The bulb type is given in your owners handbook and will also be in the list at Halfords.

Are you sure it has blown? One of mine is very annoying. Stops working (the side light is fine). Open it up and clean the contacts, works fine, a day late it has stopped again. Repeat, same happens again.

I've now bent the contacts a little to increase pressure on the bulb (but it was not bad before)...waiting to see if it stops again. Of course it may be the wiring, hope not.

Mark, my nearside rear light was like that for a while and when I was messing around trying to clean up the contacts, I pulled one of the wires out of the rubber seal thing. Thinking I had snapped the wire, I pushed it back in, more hoping than expecting that it would make a temporary connection that might last 'til the weekend when I would have more time to fix it properly. Much to my surprise, it worked fine and the week-end came and went and I forgot to "properly" fix it - that was about four years ago and it has worked perfectly since. So maybe just try pushing the wires in a bit?

Late again I know, I really must check my e-mails more frequently.

Cheers - I'll try that - I'll try anything!, although I've not checked if it's working (or not) for a while now.
