993/c2/cab clutch pedal

The clutch pedal in my 993 C2 cab often only returns approx.two thirds of it`s travel.
When this happens I have to flick it up the full way with the toe of my shoe.
Has been doing this for 8 months and approx 8000 miles.
No obvious signs of clutch slipping.
Bled the hydraulics and lubricated externaly aprox 2000 miles ago and it`s still doing it.
Has anybody come accross this before or can suggest what the problem is.

Hi,

Had this happen on mine twice in 2 years

Clutch hydralics have now been bled, but I think if that does not fix it, and the pedal is well lubricated, you need a new slave cylinder

Mine does the same and has done so since 2004 when I bought it. Mine's a Feb 1994 #311775 I wonder why they do this ? Similarly there is no clutch slip. As a matter of interest my car had a new clutch & flywheel at AFN Chiswick at 58K miles late 2003. We are now at 73000 miles Considering that you've done everything that I should think wd fix the matter its a puzzlement. I noticed that if left for a long period in the garage the pedal wd have sunk down to about half its depression span but if hooked up with my foot and pumped a bit returned to normal position. As I drive I am frequently hooking back from time to time.

Thanks for the feedback.Have booked in for a slave cylinder replacement, and will give an up date when it is done.

I think that the slave cylinder should be bled whenever you bleed the brakes (2-yearly, more often if you're into track days). It doesn't seem to be part of the official service schedule as far as I remember, although there are one or two other areas where this can be improved (oil filters only every 2 years for example? I think not...). The slave cylinders do seem to be a weak point & often only seem to last about 50K miles. Whenever my car needs a clutch, I'd change the slave too.

Perfectly sensible to change this first IMHO....[;)]

Hi,

Same problems here, but cured it with this:

http://p-car.com/diy/pedal/

My car was exactly like one in above link ( with cracked rubber boot )

Perhaps not a permanent solution, but it's been perfect for a few months now...

Hope that helps for you too...
