993 C2 Rear Offset

Hi.

Im having trouble working out what rear offset I need for a narrow body 993 C2.

I'm after a set of 17" cup 2 wheels to use for winter tyres.

im almost 100% sure i need 17x7 ET55 fronts but I keep getting conflicting info on what i need for the rear. I've seen lots that are 17x9 ET70 but was also told i might need 17x9 ET52? I've never seen any ET52.

The car currently has Roock wheels that are far too wide at the rear (I'll be changing these for next summer anyway) but these are:

18x10 ET50 rear
18x9 ET50 front

If anyone can help with my rear offset I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

The handbook specifies 8 x 17 or 8 x 16 rear wheels for winter tyres, both with a 70mm offset. This provides a narrower track with a smaller tyre-print, so gives better traction.

BTW, summer wheels are 9 x 16 with 70 mm offset or 9 x 17 with 70 or 55 mm offset. The 55's fill out the arches better.

This article in the 993 FAQ's might help.

Very difficult to get those specified offsets and widths in std genuine porsche wheels, easy option is to stick with std 7inch front and 9 inch rear in 16 or 17 inch and buy winter 255/40/ 17 and 205/55/17 winter tyres. The grip will be quite a surprise if you have not had winter tyres before.
offset should be 70 or 55 rear and 55 front from memory and as clyde has said. or perhaps a set of 16 inch design 90's from a 964 would be about right for the winter sizes , may look a bit odd with them tucked away in the arches though?
