I was considering upgrading the suspension on a 993 C2 96 to the Sports kit OE supplied and fitted by Porscheshop. Does anyone have experience with this upgrade, for ride handling and using the Porscheshop?.
Has anyone used independent specialists in the SW UK. Cheers John

Hi Maurice.

This is the description on the Porscheshop website.

Sports Suspension Kit OE 993 Manual Cars
Full Set of Four Springs & four Shock absorber dampers, Combines shorter & stiffer springs plus Dampers with firmer bump and rebound. Ride height is lowered by 15 mm. Original Porsche Kit. For All Models with Manual Gearbox

Cheers

John

You should also consider and compare with the kits from Bilstein and K&W

I've been running the Porsche OE "sport" kit since last November.
A significant improvement on the rather tired original (but maintained) set up.
However the fitting of the kit exposed a number of worn out components (bump stops, tie arm bushes etc.) that the £400 cost of the M030 (?) was dwarfed by the final bill!

I think it will be M033 at that price, M030 is much more expensive AFAIK.

My car came from the factory with M030 and I initially replaced my tired set up with M033 springs and shocks, thus saving £ over M030.

I found that it was a bit too soft for me compared to M030.

As the Monroe's with the M030 set up only lasted 45k, I've gone for Bilstein B6 HD and retained my M030 springs.

Must say, the set up is awesome, firm but a great ride and the amount of body control and grip has increased by a good margin.

You mentioned bushes, were those on the front lower wishbones?  Which garage did you use?

No, it was at the rear - upper foward radius arms with shot bushes allowing the rear tracking to move all over the show.

Invoice says M030 and the works were done by Mike at Sports & Classic in Knutsford. No hesitation in recommending him at all and the car was corner weight geo'd as well.

That is NOT the sport suspension but the lowered suspension.
It has almost the same spring and damping rates as a stock setup.
The sport suspension is not available from Porsche as a "kit".

I think the M030 "special chassis" is available as a retrofit kit from porsche under the tequipment section and includes front and rear anti/roll bars as well as springs and dampers and was at last enquiry around £1500 plus vat which is why nobody buys it.!!!

part number 000 044 500 02 retrofit kit sport type running gear (95-98 myear)

Nope, this is the part nr for the lowered chassis for the 993 Turbo and is far more expensive than the price you list.
It shares a lot of parts with the RS suspension and lowers the RoW 993TT with another 15 mm.

As said : There is NO retrofit kit available from Porsche for the M030 suspension.

I fiited M030's with Bilsteins. Well pleased with the ride ;)

... and replace the bushes in the front lower arms with Powerflex bushes.
