993 C4 short shifter

Hi all,
I am thinking of purchasing a short shift kit from Gert ( Carnewal ) for my C4, I notice some kits from other sources are not available for the C4 but his is, apparently you leave the fork bit out ?? Just change the shift lever.
Has anyone had any experiances with this, and how good is the short shifting.

Thank you

Easier enough to fit but you will have to modify the undertray on a C4

We have more info on our website

Well worth doing

Let us know how you get on with this. The shift used not to bother me but shifts on other vehicles seem to be getting shorter and shorter so I'm now noticing how lanky the 993 stick feels.

Is the C4 one different to the RS Kit? I fitted the RS one to my C2 - using the Jackal website advice (brilliant website) - straight fwd fitment (2hrs ish) massive transformation in gear shift feel and action and bits cost approx £60 ish including spare bushes and c-clips direct from Porsche.

Again this is the best mod ever !!!

Hopefully will finialise with the golden rod fitment when budget and mrs allows!!!!!

Regards

Chris

The C4 version is the same as your RS one, just a bit more to modify but it is cheaper!

Hi - What's meant by "modify" (cut a hole in?)
Could not find anything on web site - can you point me to it?
Thanks

Just to note:
Years ago I fitted the 993RS gear knob, it made my lever height a lot shorter than it was, this is due to the C4 arrangement, but if I change to the short shift RS version, which I now fancy doing, I presume this will raise the height again due to the longer lever. The height difference never bothered me.

On a 4WD, due to the propshaft, you need to modify the undertray as the linkage drops down below it and yo ucant just flip it as you can on a 2WD

Plenty of info on Rennlist

A while ago I thought of doing this. I ordered a short shift for my C4S from Gert, who said making a small dimple in the tray would be necessary on a 4WD. I asked Steve at JZM if he would fit it. Steve said he would but asked me (knowingly) to check on just exactly how big this dimple needed to be. Gert said 1.5". I told Steve I wasn't so keen now. He nodded (knowingly). I still have that short-shifter if anyone wants to contribute something to my bar tab.
