993 Camshaft Failure

Following on from my earlier post "˜993 Camshaft Wanted' "" as a result of the offside (right) camshaft sheering in two places (at low speed). I've been trying to contact the factory/engineering to try and establish if they are aware of this problem and have any ideas as to what might have caused the failure. This is mainly because I'd like to decide if I need to worry about future failures or indeed if I need to change the other one as well. I also though that Porsche might interested in the failure if only because it caused a complete loss of power steering. Customer services at Porsche GB really didn't seem at all interested and although promising to call back within a day they haven't - bit disappointing. So does anyone have a contact at the factory that I could email or perhaps a more helpful UK contact?

Regards
Anton

Sounds like you just been really unlucky.
I know the sprockets can move slightly on the camshafts altering the timing causing a loss of power as unlike on the 964 the 993 sprockets/camshafts are not locked in place with a wudruff key.
Although if the timing has moved enough to snap the camshaft, you would of thought the engine would have caused damage to pistons valves etc.
If was me and your sure its not damaged the engine in anyway, I'd fit new or good secondhand cams and just get on enjoying the car & as no one seems to of had a camshaft snap on a 993, just put it down to bad luck.

I think someone posted up the name & email details for the head of Porsche GB in another thread on here if that helps , although I cant find it at mo. Although i wouldn't hold out much hope having any joy even getting an answer, not if some of the threads on here & other forums are anything to go by.
Regards
