993 Carerra 2 Alarm

Hi everyone,
Have noticed that the red led light on each door that normally show the alarm is set have stopped flashing (ie not on at all) Not sure if alarm is now working or not. Would anyone know if there is a fuse or relay for the alarm system? Have checked the fuse list but there does not appear to be either a dedicated or shared fuse for the alarm mentioned at all. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Does your alarm not lock the doors too?

Do the hazzards flash when you lock/unlock?

Graham
Central locking is working fine - may seem strange to say this but I don't believe hazards ever flash when being locked or unlocked - Have had the car nearly 10 years and assumed that as the door lock / unlock were not on a fob that it was not part of the procedure!!

So you don't have a fob to set/unset, lock/unlock the car. So you use the key manually. Do you have the little chip and have to put it in a slot on the dash to disable the immobiliser?

Graham

Correct - just use the key in door handle - assumed that is how 993's were unless they had been upgraded to a fob system! Yes have a H&P immobiliser with the chip as you described - is this getting more complicated?

As far as I know the H&P Immobiliser is just that an Immobiliser not an alarm.

If you have an alarm the sounder is normally on the left in the engine bay next to the fuse box. Do you have any sensors on the A posts?

Graham

Thanks Maurice for your reply. Yes car is locking correctly - does not have a fob system - simply car in the lock and turn to lock both doors on Central locking. I thought H&P only fitted the immobiliser which is the chip system. To my knowledge lamps have never illuminated during locking - think I would have noticed over the last 10 years! Are they supposed to?? I have replaced the battery recently but am certain that red led lights were working after I did that - the car starts, runs and does everything else fine!

No there are no sensors on the A posts - I have never given it a second thought previously as to where the sensors are for the alarm system. I know it does work as I have somehow activated it in the past - not sure how now. Should there be a fuse system for the alarm I wonder?

My sounder has a key for service mode (when you disconnect the main battery) so it doesnt sound.

My PA1000 alarm module is under the drivers seat. The sensor on the A pillars are ultrasonic.

Try locking the car with the window open then lean in and open the door, if working the Alarm should sound when door opened. Does your interior light work when you open/ Close the door? There is a light in the luggage area too that should come on at the same time

Hi. Thanks for the assistance. Pleased to report that problem is resolved - looks like I missed a couple of obvious clues whilst in panic mode! I realised that both the on board computer light and clock had also stopped working so identified and isolated issue to a blown fuse ( fuse number 12 which is 15amp) which I now know powers the LED lights also!). So if anyone else has the same problem in future I hope this helps!
