993 compliant car baby seat

TEPPY

Took our 17 month old daughter out for first time at the weekend, just about managed to squeeze her maxi cosi seat into back seats and strap it in. Problem is makes passenger seat almost impossible to sit in as it needs to be so far forward.

The Maxi Cosi is quite large as its got built in Isofix and crash suspension etc etc. Bit of a long shot but anyone got any suggestions for a smaller and more 993 friendly seat?

I've recently had a similar problem with my 968, I've got an official Porsche seat and it fits great however the passenger seat is very far forward leaving next to no room. Doesn't help when my partner is 6'2"......okay for short distances but I recon I'll be using a baby sitter when we go to the Silverstone Classic later this year!

Did you take a photo by any chance, TEPPY? My daughter has a Maxi Cosi and I was thinking of taking her and the baby out in the cab when she visits me next, but it sounds as though it's one or the other!

no I should have done though, its not a maxi cosi after all, Britax Duo Plus Black Thunder...can't say I paid that much attention when bought it. Fits in the seat just about ok its just the projection forward means their legs stick out too far.

my wife did remind me on a number of occasions that both are "normal cars" don't have a problem and therefore why did I insist on taking out the Porsche. I'll probably leave the wife at home next time....!

G'day Teppy,

If you've had no joy in finding out further info, this may just be the company / guy you're after : www.k300.com/. See their section on child seats. I've known the chap who runs the company for 10 years or so, Stuart Cookson-Smith, as he used to be the 968 RO back in the day, we went to the same meets, and he knows his stuff in well-rounded fashion. I had a 968 too back then; mention my name too if you wish but he'll not recall. Certainly mention you've heard via me from the forum and that'll help in your quest [;)].

What's more, the back seats + fittings of the 968 are pretty much if not identical to the 993, so he should be good to guide you in that direction too.

Worth a quick a call if nothing else to eliminate from enquiries [:)]

We bought a Maxi Cosi which fitted both 924S & 964 rear seats for when our grandaughter needed transportation-however a child needs to be 18 kgs?/a certain height to use them as only the seat belt secures child & seat.

We still have it by the way-in virtual new condition with no emergency use at all -so for sale.
