993 Hydraulic Tappets

Started my C2 s this afternoon to discover a nasty tappet sound which was not there the day before when I literally drove out of the garage and back in again. The driving of the car is not affected in any way apart from the noise. I am wondering if it has dropped a tappet? Any experienced responses would be appreciated asap before I book her in!
