993 Intercooler Pressure Pipe

On a jolly little jaunt to Silverstone recently the intercooler pressure pipe blew off the intercooler.

After effecting a very temporary roadside repair I eventually made it home. (thanks to the guy in a 944 for stopping to check if I was OK!)

I need to replace said pipe - OPC says the part number has changed due to the part being modified.

Is this problem common on the 993TT? (Oh, and how difficult is the pipe to replace?)

Thanks

Very common ,especially after a bit of enthusiastic driving .................its modified to something a bit stiffer , key is to have all the oil out of intercooler and nice clean joints before u whack it on, ther are some super duper clips ,i ve got them but nit sure they re any better............not quite as easy as it looks , best when cold !!

Unfortunately a known problem on 10 year old hoses that occasionaly happens. The updated pipe is reinforced at the points where its clamped and the clamps are updated as well and not heard of any of them 'blowing off'.
Usual problems of needing small hands and a cold engine and some good tools

This hapened to me as well. God I nearly died. The whole dash lit up like christmas.
You think the worst when it hapens. But the pressure hose had become perished at the intercooler end, and there was only so much pressure it could take. £388.00
including parts+labor at porsche centre cambridge. 2 months into ownership is when it hapened, and it was my first porsche, OH GOD WHAT NOW![]

Thanks guys, good to know I'm not the only one with the 'Christmas Tree' issue! - I saw all the lights interspersed with £££ signs!

Gentlemen (and especially Gordon).
Anybody know when this hose was updated? My beast is an Aug 97 and I dont fancy a heart strain at my stage of life (67 years).
Please make an old git happy.

My car is an Aug 97 and the original hoses were all black, the upgraded replacements are orange on both ends where the clips fit. I changed mine because they had gone all soft where they fit onto the turbos, they were ok at the intercooler end. They were £114 + vat each from the OPC.

They are very awkward to fit, especially where they go through the tinware onto the turbo`s, removing the rear wheels and engine undertray allows better access. Its easier if you get someone to help by them pushing the hose down in the engine bay it allows you to guide them onto the turbos. The lower clip needs to go over the turbo pipe before you push the hose onto the turbo, you can then put the clip on the hose and tighten it up.
