993 new owner issues

I've had my 993 a week now and have noticed a couple of things with the way the AC works that I think may be a problem.

Firstly with the AC on, the fans at the front of the car keep cutting in and out regularly irrespective of the temp setting? Also there is a flickering of the computer LCD screen when this happens and I suspect that this is the main compressor cutting in and out

Secondly there is anannoying squeak from air blower motor, is this easy to fix or change out the blower?

There is also a really odd squeaking noise from the dash top near the windscreen almost like a rattle, is this the squeaking windscreen problem?

I'll check out the AC relays over the weekend, what a good article in the tech section

The blower makes a squeak while running all the time at any speed (settings 1-4), its like a dry bearing.

I'll get a second opinion on the windscreen noise as you suggest

My blower started squeaking and it was the drivers side blower fan just touching the pollen filter insert. Take the filter out and see if the sqeak goes - if so, remove a bit of the plastic from around the filter with a sharp knife and Bobs your Uncle !!

My 964 front o/s blower used to squeak in dry weather. The 993 set up is virtually identical I believe. I took it all apart and gave it a quick squirt of WD40 on the bearings. That cured it for the 12 months or so before I sold the car.

Not too difficult a job - just watch out for the little clips that ping off and fall down into the deepest recesses. A telescopic magnetic screw recoverer is essential.

Well I got as far as checking out the AC sytem over the weekend as set out in the tech article. Definatly a slow speed fan resistor so must change this, anyone done it?

Thanks chaops for the comment on the blower squeak, I'll check that out next weekend
