993 no more !

it's strange how things happen, only a few months agao I decided to join the 993 lifers club and purchased my cheesy 993 number plate and then having just spent close to £3k getting my Targa roof renewed, I knew that was it .... car is mint nothing else to do at all ! here's to the next 12 months of cheap motoring.... and then I go to the Nurburgring again....

now the 993 is quick, M030 Anti-roll bars and a better set up have really helped and staying with the Ring Taxi for half a lap till the straight part at the back was fun (although it was probably just playing with me!), oh did it all flow, not bad for 10 year old car with 110k on the clock, so here I am wondering why I sold....... but I wanted more pace more power, as watching the routemasters flash by kept playing on my mind..

although I've always and still want a 993 RS but the issue was spending another £25k on an RS when I believe I have 80% of that car, so that is a lot for that 20%, although it's that 20% that makes all the difference between regular 993 and a legend of automotive time ! so I know that one day I wil own a 993 RS, but that's a long way away..

anyway Glenn Mc's Manthey GT3 was soon to become available prior to his next 997 GT3 RS purchase and then I had interest in my car, so put that all together and here I am, I decided not to keep the 993 number plate, so then I'll at least always know my old car when I see it !

so 2 years and just over 2 months later and some 22000 miles, I am no longer a 993 owner but now find myself in a car that I know almost nothing about ! there was a mention that this car has radiators at the front but I'm not really sure what's that is all about ! and of course the car is RHD which has taken a short while to recall ! even if I'm still walking around to the pax door.......

sadly for all of you lot, I'll still hang around on the 993 plot to offer my views on cupholders and all things air-cooled as that's all I know ! and giving Maurice the odd prod now and again to keep him on his toes

but thankyou to everyone for making the last 2 and bit years fun, interesting and eventful, I've leant a lot, meet some new friends and a lot of great people from all over the country that has made the whole 993 experience !

so here the new motor, as Glenn Mc (an epic wheel man) does a lap of das ring ! it's very.....err.. yellow, and I've already got back and leg ache from the seats and the controls but it is an epic car and it will help me improve my driving technique, which as some of you will know (for those who have been brave enough to join me as a pax on a track day) I need continual and further driving development ! but I've discovered the twin cupholders, so that's a bonus already....

cheers chaps..... it is so different to drive, although the current Toyo R888's have a lot to do with that..... looks like I'll be starting all over again...

I can see Oliver in a GT3 in the new year, should be a few on the market when the 997's hit the road..... but get it Manthey'ed !

had it Paintshield over the weekend, they did a great job

Sundeep, cracking motor, good luck with it. That's two ex-Targa owners in West London within a couple of months now.

Ade, I avoided the dark side mate, but only just......[:)]......blame the size of my garage for that....

Sundeep,

From your earlier post....

was spending another £25k on an RS when I believe I have 80% of that car,

I reckon you had 120% of an RS [;)]

Congratulations Sundeep! That's a stunner. What are the Manthey modifications?

I look forward to a passenger ride (once you've got the hang of it).

Don't forget to put water in it.
