993 Oil Grade

'just been advised by my OPC that they refill the engine with Mobil 10-60 on older (ie pre-water cooled) 911's now. Well I'll be glad to move up from Mobil One 0-40 as it is so thin and leak-prone but 10-60 feels like one hell of a jump up the viscosity scale. Does anybody have any experience of this oil or better still, sight of a recent Porsche Technical Bulletin on the subject please?
10-60 of any make certainly isn't listed on the March 2009 bulletin I have seen.
 
I don't want to open the Oil debate again as it's been done to death on this forum BUT my 993 leaks oil on 0-40 or 5-40 and I got fed up with changing gaskets etc (never shows on the garage floor) I changed to 10-40 semi synthetic and it has stopped leaking period.
I do about 5k miles per year and change oil and both filters annually. I do not drive it on winter roads so the slightly thicker on cold start up doesn't worry me. Also my car has done 176,000 miles and goes as well as it did when I bought it and the lid has never been off the engine. Oil pressure and consumption is exactly as it should be.

I would never suggest anyone follows my strategy - you have to take your own route.
 

Think I'll stick with 0 - 40 until I see a TB and probably not even then.

A wee leak of oil a day keeps corrosion at bay [:)]
