I think it was called the "Motorsound Airbox" - is that the one you mean? A Porsche option? If yes, my car came with one and I was told it made no difference to the power, but improved the sound. Can't say I can tell the difference! But the chromed inlet looks better than the plastic one (when you open the engine lid that is...)

I am new to 993 ownership and taking delivery of a 96 C4S in a few days time... I have seen these direct replacement airboxes with them chromed inlet ? Do they make any discernible difference to the performance of the car?
(sorry if the topic has already been covered previously...)

I replaced my air filter for a BMC one, + a fabspeed maxflo airintake system. Sounds impresive but basically just a hollow piece of plastic that fits on front of the airbox to replace the cover. They did give it a carbon fibre look though. But coupled with the BMC filter, it definatly sounds much better.

Just drill some holes in your standard air box cover and get the same effect as a Motorsound box it just has holes in it and a fancy end.if you drill your own one you will have better noise /no power gain ,your better off getting RSRs the rear exhaust boxes even more noise still now power gain but better throttle response
