993 Pre purchase inspection & Major service

Hi Neil,

Perhaps your best bet is through an independant Porsche specialist.

There are two I know of in Essex:-

Autostrassa in Coggeshall

HGW Engineering in Hornchurch

Both have adverts in Porsche post so it might be worth giving them both a ring an see what they say.

I second John on recommending Autostrasse. My car is due there on Monday for it's third time and cannot stress enough how impressed I have been with Alan and Ken. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else.

Neil - until last month I lived the past 5 years in Stock ('01 Y reg Lapis Boxster, we may have passed each other....) so we were nearly neighbours!

I called HGW for some minor bumper paint work 2 years ago and was put through to their bodyshop partners who ultimately did a very shoddy job. I wouldn't use them again.

You may want to try Tower (near Tower Bridge) and Camtune (Canary Wharf) - Camtune are trying to source me a 993 at the moment and seem to know what the're doing. Proof of the pudding though....

Haven't got the details to hand but 2 mins on Google is all it takes.

cannot stress enough how impressed I have been with Alan and Ken.

I've been going there for the best part of three years now. They are very accomodating and even let me think I'd helped putting on my exhaust rear section one Saturday morning.

They have a realistic aproach to Porsche ownership and will tell you if something is best left well alone rather then fleece you for doing a silly little problem.

The only down side, and testament to their popularity, is you may have to wait four weeks for a slot.

For everybodies' information, many will be saddened [] to learn that Harvey Walker of HGW Engineering, Independent Porsche Specialists, is selling up at the end of this week and going to live in Suffolk.

On behalf of all those in the Essex and other regions who have enjoyed using Harvey's services and welcomed his expertise, we wish Harvey all the best in whatever he does in super Suffolk. We also thank him for his help and assistance with our club over the past many years.
